Gleneagles Case Study: Hazardous Electrical Installation

gleneagles

Client:

Gleneagles is a five star luxury hotel located in Scotland. It is known for its golf course and spa resort, which brings in visitors from around the world.

Problem:

We were commissioned to electrically install a new French vapouriser to the existing heating system. This was a challenging proposition as their electrical system did not comply with the regulations suitable for hazardous fuels.

Solution:

Because the hotel had a TNCS system but needed a TT system for the new vapouriser, our electrical engineers split the earthing arrangements from the fuel system. To do this we had to isolate all the pipe work and electrical earthing between the two systems.

We also had to overcome the differences in regulations between French and British electrical standards. This meant modifying the French panel to comply with our standards, and supplying and fitting a test socket to enable the earthing arrangement to be tested safely and to the current regulations.

The French vapouriser was successfully installed and met electrical safety regulations for hazardous electrical installations.
